You know about corruption, but what is International Mega-Corruption Inc.?
Much of the discussion about corruption ignores the historical and structural foundations of international mega corruption (ImC Inc.). This involves corporations, governments, bureaucrats and many unknown actors. The problem here is that we are dealing with big money that could have gone to the infrastructural developments. Somehow, the money gets missing and they are unaccounted for.
This has a very long history, dating back to colonial times. Today, ImC Inc. manifests itself in e.g the underpricing of natural resources and tax evasion. The problem is that the focus of most research is mostly on petty corruption. This is very troubling because it releaves the 'big fish' of any responsibility.
Apart from being the results of greed and criminal intent, ImC Inc. is a designed and violent instrument for undermining human progress.
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is a train that is heading nowhere if we do not address the looting machine. This is because achieving every single one of the sustainability agendas requires a lot of money.
